Hatta is a mountain exclave of Dubai in the Hajar range, about a 1.5-hour drive from the city center (around 130 km). It's a different Dubai here: green gorges, a turquoise reservoir by the dam, cool mountain air, and quiet. The main spots are the Hatta Dam with kayak rentals, the Hatta Wadi Hub activity park, Hatta Hill Park with its viewpoint, and Hatta Heritage Village. It's a popular day trip out of Dubai, especially from November to March.
To be upfront: we don't have a separate group 'Hatta' tour in the catalog yet. But Hatta is easy to reach with a private Dubai tour (from $180) — a car and guide just for you, a route that includes a Hatta stop. Below are that option and other TripUAE tours that lead into the mountains and to the east coast. Want Hatta specifically — message us on WhatsApp and we'll quote a private route.
Hatta Dam — the signature shot: a turquoise reservoir ringed by cliffs. There's a rental point on the lake — single and double kayaks, water bikes, pedalos, SUP boards; paid on-site, life jackets provided. Best in the morning, while the water is calm and there are fewer people.
Hatta Wadi Hub — an activity park: ziplines over the gorge, a freefall jump, a ropes course, archery, mountain-bike and buggy rentals. Hatta Hill Park — a viewpoint with a mountain panorama and the big HATTA letters. Hatta Heritage Village — a reconstructed mountain village with forts, a mosque, and old houses, showing how people lived in the mountains centuries ago. Cyclists head to the marked trails of the Hatta Mountain Bike Trail Centre and the Hatta Drop In bike park.
By car is the most convenient option: about 1.5 hours via the E44 highway through Margham, a paved road with petrol stations and cafés along the way. Bring your passport: part of the road runs along the Oman border (you don't cross it, but documents are sometimes checked). There's almost no public transport — just an irregular Dubai Bus H01 on weekends.
The most comfortable way for a tourist is a private Dubai tour with a Hatta stop (from $180 for 1–2 people): a car and Russian-speaking guide just for you, stopping at the dam, the Heritage Village, and wherever you like along the way, returning to your hotel in the evening. If mountains and nature in general matter more to you, check the east-coast and Oman tours below.
A car and Russian-speaking guide just for you. The route is built around you — a Hatta stop at the dam can be added to the program. The best way to reach Hatta with TripUAE.
Dune bashing in a 4x4, an Arabian camp, a barbecue dinner and a show. Not Hatta, but the most popular 'nature' trip out of Dubai — the desert an hour from the city.
Fujairah's mountains, Indian Ocean beaches, the historic Al Bidyah Mosque, the Friday market. A day in the mountains and by the sea on the east coast.
The 'Arabian fjords' on a dhow: rocky coves, snorkeling, dolphins, lunch on board. A passport is required — you cross the border into Oman.
A personal tour of the east coast and the Hajar Mountains: forts, wadis, Indian Ocean beaches. Route and pace are up to you.
The best window is November–March: daytime +20…+28 °C, comfortable for walking, biking, and kayaking. From April to October it's hot (up to +40 °C and above) — if you go in summer, plan for early morning. Hatta is 3–5 degrees cooler than Dubai and noticeably drier. On weekends (Friday–Saturday) the dam and Wadi Hub get crowded — arrive at opening or pick a weekday.
A single day is enough for the dam, Heritage Village, Hill Park, and a couple of Wadi Hub activities. Stay overnight if you want to ride the mountain-bike trails without rushing or combine Hatta with the east coast — in Hatta itself there's the JA Hatta Fort Hotel and the Hatta Damani Lodges camp.
